Gary Alan Hodges, 69, died Friday, October 9, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a two year struggle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
A memorial service will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church. Dr. Howard K. Batson will officiate. A private burial will be held at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Gary graduated Tascosa High School and West Texas State University with an accounting degree. After a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant, Gary and his wife Deb purchased The Catfish Shack Restaurant which they owned and operated for 23 years.
Gary was a member of First Baptist Church and “The Middle” Sunday School Class. An avid musician, Gary would often entertain his friends and family with singing and guitar playing. Gary was a friend to everyone he met, and people naturally gravitated toward him. He was loved by all and enjoyed his life to the fullest.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Alma; his daughter Leah; his brothers Bill, Jimmy, and Don; a nephew Michael; and brother-in-law, Shorty McCaffree.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 – 5 p.m. at Schooler Funeral Home
Gary is survived by his wife, Deborah, daughters, Deidre Podlesnik and husband Rob, Eren Heuchert and husband Mark, Kerry Roush and husband Greg; his twin sister, Mary McCaffree Simmers and husband David; brother Robert Hodges and wife Janice; sisters-in-law, Joyce Hodges and Freddie Hodges; six grandchildren, Austin, Hunter, Chloe, Amy, Savannah and Scarlett; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Gary’s honor be made to National Jewish Health, 1400 Jackson St. Denver, Co. 80206
