Vivian Marie Womble age 76 of Amarillo died April 18, 2017
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 2:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. Rev. Scott Rankin will officiate. Burial will follow at Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia
Vivian was born September 17, 1940 in Lindale, Texas to J.D. and Lizzy Ruth Huey Hester. She graduated from Draughn’s Business College with an Associate in Business. After completing school she married Larry Womble on June 25, 1966 in Las Vegas, Nevada. That began a love affair that would last, as the couple would have celebrated their fifty first anniversary this year.
The couple moved to Amarillo in 1967, Vivian worked in the oil and gas industry both in East Texas and Amarillo until she found her true calling. In 1972, when their daughter Christi was born, Vivian realized her passion was caring for her family.
As a mother she was fierce and vivacious, she was quick to express her opinions but even quicker to show her unwavering support of Christi. As a wife, she was the constant that Larry could depend on. Their love was true and enduring. As a grandmother, Vivian delighted her grandchildren and loved them dearly.
Vivian was a private woman, who kept to herself, yet had a heart of gold and would extend a hand to anyone in need. She was a kind and compassionate soul with a passion for her family.
The family will receive guests Friday evening at the funeral home from 6 PM until 7PM.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Annell Hester and a brother Charles Hester.
She is survived by her husband Larry of Amarillo, her daughter, Christi Avritt and her husband of Rowlett, TX; two brothers, Jerry Don Hester of Gilmer and Wilbert “Sonny” Hester of Tyler; three grandchildren, Christopher and Brittany Weaver and Jesse Avritt Jr; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Lone Star Ballet, 3218 Hobbs Road, Amarillo, Texas 79109 or a favorite charity.
