Adam Hernandez, age 36 of Amarillo Texas gained his wings Saturday October 30, 2021.
A rosary service will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd at 5:30 PM in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral. The Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 3rd at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral. The Celebrant will be Rev. Anthony Neusch.
Adam was born December 27, 1984 in Plainview Texas to his parents Juan and Yvonne Hernandez. He graduated from Plainview High School in 2003 and was awarded their prestigious Laverne Roach Award given to one Senior young man for good sportsmanship and clean living. In high school Adam played the tuba in band, he was the defensive end for his PHS Bulldogs football team, played baseball, and ran track. His passions besides his family were; being a DJ (DJ Smoky) barbecuing, smoking all kinds of meats, building small projects, oil painting, sketching, gift giving, enjoyed antique stores and pawn shops. He also has a rock and coin collection that he doted on.
In 2001 he was granted a wish from the Make-a-Wish Foundation and became an Honorary Marine Recruit alongside his brother Gabriel who was graduating from Marine Boot Camp in San Diego, California.
He married his partner in life Miriam Beatriz Lujan Blanco on February 1, 2008 in Amarillo, Texas.
Although Adam had his share of physical challenges, he lived his life to the fullest and dedicated his life to serving God, his family, and anyone he met. He was deeply committed to the church and volunteered a lot of his time mentoring the youth. He was Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Council 1450. Adam cherished his children and was involved in every aspect of their lives.
Adam was preceded in death by his grandfather, Israel Vera and by an infant brother, Johnnie Jr. Hernandez.
He is survived by his wife Miriam B. Hernandez, his children, Emily, Israel, Ivan, and Isaac Hernandez of Amarillo; his parents, Juan and Yvonne Vera Hernandez of Plainview; his two brothers, Johnnie L. Hernandez of Plainview and Gabriel Hernandez and wife Lupita Hernandez of Odessa; his grandparents, John E. and Agripina “Gloria” Hernandez of Plainview; and his grandmother Armandina L. Vera of Irving.
