Aggie was born on January 12, 1939 in Big Spring, Texas to Manuel and Lupe Sosa. In November of 1956 she married Ben Padilla, Sr. Despite their divorce after 30 years of marriage, they remained close friends for the remainder of her life. Aggie had an enthusiasm for life. She loved movies, yard work, and activities with her family and friends. Dancing was one of her favorite activities, even taking the opportunity to dance onstage with Chubby Checker during a concert at Westgate Mall. She had a strong Christian faith and was a member of the Catholic Community Bible Study at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, where she was a charter member. She was very excited when she had the opportunity to participate in a Christian pilgrimage to Medjugorje in Italy. Her family was the most important thing to her. Despite her own limited opportunities, Aggie made sure her children had the opportunity to pursue advanced degrees. She would have made any sacrifice for anyone, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her self-sacrificing nature was no more evident than in her role as a military wife. Aggie raised three children, often on her own for months and even years while her husband was deployed overseas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Linda Sarinana, and one brother, Manual Sosa, Jr.

Aggie is survived by her daughter, Yolanda Grimes of Amarillo, her daughter Dr. Anne Redondo and son-in-law David Redondo of Houston, her son, Dr. Ben Padilla of Amarillo, three sisters, Nancy Coker and Bea Kirkeeng, both of Amarillo, Edelmira Selvera of Midland, four brothers, Roberto Sosa, Luis Sosa, George Sosa, and Fred Sosa, all of Midland, three grandchildren, Danielle Saied of Amarillo, and Rachel and Eric Redondo of Houston, three great-grandchildren, Garrett, Graham, and Sam Saied of Amarillo, and numerous additional family and friends.

The family requests memorials be made in Aggie’s name to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or to the American Heart Association, 105 Decker Court, Suite 200, Irving, TX 75062.
