Alexander Edward Saikowski, 88 of Amarillo, Texas died September 29, 2011.
Services will be at 6:30 p.m., October 2, 2011 at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia Street, with Monsignor Joseph Tash officiating. Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Wichita Falls, Texas. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.
Mr. Saikowski was born October 19, 1922 to Stephanie and Anthony Saikowski in Cliffside, New Jersey. He was a veteran of the Fourth Division U.S. Marine Corp. and fought in WWII. He received a Purple Heart after being wounded on the island of Iwo-Jima.
Mr. Saikowski married Marie Balazs in 1949 in Passaic, New Jersey. They moved to Wichita Falls, Texas the same year where they belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and raised their three children. He was a well-known home builder for 46 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marie, his parents, his brother and his beloved sister, Josie.
He is survived by two sons, Anthony Saikowski and his wife Rita of Amarillo, Texas; Ronald and wife Martha of the Woodlands, Texas; a daughter Sandra and husband Jim Okumoto of Sonoma, California; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
