Alice C. Balch

Alice C. Balch, 93, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2017.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Darrouzett.
Alice was born in her home near Darrouzett, Texas on the 12th day of December in 1923 to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Balch. She started school at a little country school called Plains. She attended there through the 8th grade and graduated from Darrouzett High School on May 15, 1941. Her education didn’t stop there as she went on to Amarillo College and then to St. Anthony’s School of Nursing, graduating on May 23, 1945. She went to post graduate school at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated there on June 14, 1948. On April 29, 1986, she was declared a Nurse Anesthetist by the State of Texas. She worked all her life in Amarillo for numerous doctors. Along with her career, her dogs brought her great joy. She always loved her dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her three siblings; two nephews; and her very best friend, Ann Diller.
She is survived by eight nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
