Allan B. Adkins, 67, of Amarillo died Monday, October 13, 2014.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery. Sam Silverman and Bernard Cohen will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Allan was born in Amarillo on September 11, 1934 to Henry M. and Chloe Adkins. He married Linda Ruth Meech on June 22, 1968 in Amarillo.
After graduating from Amarillo High School in 1952, Allan attended the University of Texas where he earned his Juris Doctorate in Law. He then served as a First Lieutenant in The US Army from 1958 until 1962 where he taught law at the University of West Virginia. After his time in the Army he returned to Amarillo to practice law. His legal practice included work in oil, gas, and banking industries, including the FDIC.
Allan was a member of the Texas Bar for over fifty years and served as the President of the Amarillo Chapter of American Heart Association. He was also proud to be a member of the MENSA Society.
Allan was preceded in death by his wife of forty-nine years on February 8, 2012 and his brother Winston Adkins
Survivors include two daughters, Amy Dixon and husband Philip and Katy Gerben, all of Orlando, Fla., and six grandchildren, Sage, Coral, Iris, Clay, Andrew and Scott.
The family suggests memorials be to Temple B’Nai Israel, 4316 Albert Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106.
