Al was born June 1, 1943 in Elk City, OK. He grew up in the Berlin/Grimes communities and was married to Joyce Evalena Baker in 1961 at the Berlin Community Center. They lived in Sayre before living on and working on Joyce’s parent’s home place. They moved to Strong City, OK where they managed a dairy farm until moving to Claude, Tx and later to Happy, Tx where Al worked for the Wallace Ford company. Al and Joyce moved to Canyon and Al began working on the farm for Delmer Durrett. Joyce preceded him in death in 1974.

Al owned and operated Al’s Garage and Welding, as well as A&L Services before going to work for West Texas Gas in 1995, where he was currently employed as a service technician. Al was known for his hard working mentality and his love for family and friends. He learned to fly, and enjoyed riding motorcycles, horses, and traveling with Sharon. His greatest joys were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Grace Community Church and had been a member and officer of the Randall County Sherriff’s Posse.
