Alvin Paul Engelbrecht, 85, of Amarillo died April 16, 2018.
A vigil will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington St. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Church. Private family interment will be at 2:00 p.m., at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Alvin was born January 13, 1933 in Stratford, Texas to Joseph and Mary Engelbrecht. He graduated from Price College and was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral. He served in the United States Army and farmed in Sherman County following his discharge. He then moved to Amarillo where he began working in the furniture restoration industry.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ronald Engelbrecht.
Alvin is survived by 3 daughters, Natalie Munson and husband Tim of Oklahoma City, Jeanne Bell and husband Billy of Stratford and Dr. Valerie Engelbrecht and husband Dave Parker of Edmond; sister, Marion Gabel of Amarillo; 5 grandchildren, Christopher Bell and wife Katie, Mandi Haynes and husband Chris, Adam Bell and wife Mika, Brady Bell and wife Melissa and Hannah Parker; and 9 great-grandchildren and a very special friend, Patsy Mitchell of Amarillo, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington St., Amarillo, TX 79102 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
