Anna Marie Shumaker, age 91 of Amarillo entered into her heavenly reward on September 24, 2024 in Amarillo.
A rosary will be on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 6:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 South Georgia. The funeral mass will be on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 South Washington with Rev. Anthony Neusch as celebrant. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Anna was born in Umbarger on December 5, 1932 to her parents John and Bertha Rebsomen Schoenberger. She attended High School at St. Scholastica Monastery, a community of Benedictine Sisters in Fort Smith, AR.
On September 4, 1971, she married Eugen Shumaker. She later completed her masters in in education at West Texas State University. Anna enjoyed the outdoors, taking walks in the garden and ensuring she fed every squirrel she encountered. She devoted her entire life to God, education and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her many siblings, Johnny, Karl, Albert, and Bertha Schoenberger, Lucy Boyd, Adele Singleton, Christine Bishop, Mary Lee, Joe Schoenberger, Evelyn Touchstone and Sally Phillips; and her husband, Eugene on April 4, 1993.
Anna is survived by her sister Theresa Dossett and her husband Bernard of Amarillo and by her brother Tony Schoenenberger and his wife Ella Mae of Louisiana.
