After graduation, she worked for Record Act as a stenographer and earned the nickname “Cookie.” Anne was a Denim Dancer Square Dance Club member and the local polka dance club. In 1961 Anne attended her best friend Veronica’s wedding in Nazareth and met her future husband, Eugene (Gene) Kern. Anne and Gene married on January 4, 1962, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth and made their home in that community.
In Nazareth, they raised two daughters and started a family business, Kern Supply. Anne worked there as a secretary and office manager until Gene's passing in 1985. Anne then cared for her own mother in her home until her mother’s passing in 1990. Anne retired in 1997 and moved to Amarillo to be with her children and grandchildren. Anne, a lifelong faithful Catholic, was a Catholic Daughters & Catholic Mothers member. Anne was a pro-life warrior. Anne received the “Servant of Life Award” from the Diocesan Respect Life Ministries. Anne loved bowling and even continued her hobby via Wii bowling in her later years. Anne had a hidden talent for drawing art. Her other interests included art, playing cards, scrabble, watching Texas Rangers baseball, reading, and gardening. Anne enjoyed traveling with her family & taking trips with her sister, brother, and sister-in-law. Anne loved being a grandmother. Though she claimed she would never have a pet, in her older years, she came to enjoy pet dogs, cats, and even lizards. Anne had a calm personality and a good sense of humor. Her wisdom and gentle spirit will be missed.
