Annie Litle Vest Kendall, 93 of Amarillo died February 23, 2013.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 at San Jacinto Church of Christ, 823 S. Mississippi, with Mr. Glen Walton officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Annie was born in Harleton, TX to Arthur William Francis and Valarie Ethel Boyd Francis. Annie’s mother passed away when she was only eleven. Mrs. Kendall was the founder of Eat Rite Health Food the first health food store in the tri state area. Eat Rite Health food started in a one room apartment at 600 Louisiana in San Jacinto on old Route 66.
Annie opened Eat Rite Health Food Store in 1950. In 1959 she became a Reflexologist under the famous Eunice Ingram and Fred Stoffel. Annie was a student of Stanley Burrough’s, studying whole body and foot reflexes and color therapy. In 1970, Annie became a member of American Massage Association and in 1971 became a Doctor of Naturopathy. She studied with Dr. Edna White, MD in Truth or Consequences, NM on body alignment and attended Fred Houston D.O. Course on Contact Healing and John Young College of Miology.
She received the Award of Excellence as a Nutritional Counselor from American Dietary Laboratories. Annie studied under Bernard Jensen and became an Iridologist. She wrote and published “Ask Annie” in her late 80's, a book full of old fashioned holistic remedies.
Annie was a graduate of Dorothy Carnegie. In her late 80's she became a certified volunteer with St Anthony's Hospice Life Enrichment. She was a long time member of San Jacinto Church of Christ
Annie is survived by her husband George Kendall, her daughters Donna Litle Cunningham and Linda Litle Ayres, 5 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren and many many friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to the many people who provided care and comfort in her last days especially Elaine and Emma Lee and Barbara. Thanks to Merlin, her special night nurse at Moore; Ginny her Hospice aid; and Cindy her night angel for her last nights.
