Annie Faye Nickerson Owens, 83, of Amarillo passed away surrounded by her family, Monday, September 24, 2018.

Services will be held 2:00 p. m. Friday, September 28, 2018 at Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church, 1801 North Hughes, with the Reverend Steven R. Martin, Pastor as Eulogist, and the Reverend Vurn C. Martin, Pastor, Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Officiating. Interment will be in Llano Cemetery.

The second of 14 children, Annie Faye was born to the late George and Ethel Nickerson on May 8, 1935 in Wills Point, TX, and was educated in the Childress School System.  She married Tim Gassaway in 1952 and they became the parents of four children.  In later years, she married Edward Owens in 1993, and acquired three additional children.  Annie Faye was a faithful member of Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church for over fifty years.  She served as a deaconess and held many other offices throughout the years.  In her early years, she was employed by Hugo Loewenstern and Blackburn Clothiers.

Annie Faye was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Verble Gassaway and Darnell Owens, one daughter Joyce Owens, and two grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; three sons, Timothy and Kelvin Gassaway both of Amarillo, and Rodney (Kathy) Owens of Dallas; two daughters, Janice (Clarence) Bolton and Lucretia Owens, all of Amarillo; five brothers and eight sisters; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 today, Thursday, September 27, at the funeral home.
