Arlene Dudenhoeffer, 97, of Amarillo, ascended into the Kingdom of the Almighty on Christmas Day, 2023.
Public viewing hours will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 14200 Interstate 27 with family friend Tommy Tucker presiding.
Arlene Dowdy was born in Greer County, Oklahoma on July 3, 1926 to L.H. and Mary (Dudek) Dowdy. She graduated from Mangum High School in 1944 and relocated to Amarillo, Texas to attend the Saint Anthony’s School of Nursing. She graduated Nursing School in 1947 and would spend the next 45 years as a full time Operating Room Nurse before retiring.
She married Paul Dudenhoeffer in May of 1948, and together they built their family. She loved gardening and was an outstanding cook who specialized in Bierocks. Arlene could sew and crochet about anything and was a wonderful farm wife.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Paul, Daughter in Law Marilyn Gerber Dudenhoeffer, great grandson Jack Land, and brothers Nolan, Harold, Dan, and Glen. Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters Molly Dudenhoeffer of Amarillo, Linda Vaughn and husband Terry of Harrah, Oklahoma, son Mike Dudenhoeffer of Panhandle, Texas; grandchildren Trey Dudenhoeffer and wife Jessica, Josie Land and husband Kirk, and Braden Dudenhoeffer, as well as great-grandchildren Joyce Land and Michael Dudenhoeffer. Arlene also leaves her dear niece Yvonne Dowdy-Jones and husband Hugh, and nephew Scott Dudenhoeffer and wife Lorna.
