Audrey May Bennett

February 15, 1914 — December 26, 2011

A memorial service for Audrey Bennett will be held at 1 pm on Feb. 18th at the First
Presbyterian Church; where she was a life-long member.

Mrs. Bennett was born Audrey May Smith in Bomerton, TX on Feb 15, 1914. She
moved to Amarillo as a young child and except for a brief period prior to World War
11 lived her life here. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jason Bennett, in
1977. Mrs. Bennett will be remembered as a kind and generous person. She was
known for her dexterity as a seamstress, making clothing for her family and later
draperies for the public. She was a wonderful cook and especially liked to bake many
different kinds of cookies. She sang in the choir at First Presbyterian and played in the
bell choir. Even after her vision failed she continued giving back to her community by
making daffodils for cancer patients at the Harrington Cancer Center
.
Audrey is survived by three daughters, Sharon Puckett and Marjeanne (Roger) Moore
of Amarillo and Gail Meacham of Marietta, GA; three sisters, Virginia Sprouse and
Edna Shelton of Amarillo and Frances Isaacs of Midland; 11grandchildren, 15
great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to First Presbyterian Music Ministry, Hospice Care of
the Southwest.
