Barbara Jeane Schutts Henry Roberts Miller

Barbara Jeane Schutts Henry Roberts Miller, 77, passed away April 26, 2018.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Saint Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington St. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Barbara was born January 13, 1941 in Fort Worth, Texas to William C. and Mary Schutts, Jr. She earned a B.A. degree from Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado where she taught in the Denver Public School System briefly before pursuing her passion of computer programming. She earned an M.B.A. degree from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas and worked for twenty years at Western Data/Systematics, Inc. until her retirement as the Director of Programming. She enjoyed the challenge of writing computer code at a time when few women were encouraged to work in the field, and she lead a team in programming the very first ATM machine located in Amarillo for First National Bank of Amarillo.

Barbara was a strong supporter of education and community service. She volunteered in the Amarillo ISD HOSTS program for several years and was also a past member of the Junior League of Amarillo. She loved animals and supported many animal welfare causes locally and nationally.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, William C. Schutts, Jr. and Mary Mobley Schutts; her husbands, Jerry Jack Miller, Paul Roberts, and James W. Henry, III; and a step-son, Anthony Miller.

Survivors include her daughter, Christine Otterness and husband Brian of Amarillo; granddaughters, Katrin Otterness of Austin and Lauren Otterness of Amarillo; step-children of Jerry Miller including Leslie Tuckness, Valerie Harston, and Jennifer Siess all of Amarillo, and Kurt Miller of Austin; and step-children of Paul Roberts including Kymn Roberts, Cydney Roberts, and Paige Roberts.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 5211 SW 9th Ave Ste 100, Amarillo, TX 79106.
