Barry Kirk Everett

Barry Kirk Everett, 51, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Wednesday December 4, 2013.

Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 8, in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2013 in St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral with Msgr. Harold Waldow and the Rev. Scott Raef as concelebrants.  Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Barry was born in Vega, Texas on August 13, 1962. He graduated from Vega High School and continued on to receive an associate’s degree from Clarendon College before attending the University of Texas in Arlington and West Texas A&M University in Canyon.

Barry was married to Meganne Walsh on December 13, 1997.

Barry worked as an IT specialist for clients such as IBM, Bell Helicopter and WTAM for over 10 years. Before his IT career, Barry was a working cowboy.  Barry enjoyed his pets, scuba diving and skydiving, and he had a black belt in Aikido. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral and was always an eager volunteer for numerous charitable events.

Barry is survived by his wife, Meganne Walsh, and his mother Peggy Hill, both of Amarillo.  He is survived by loving family including his uncle Ron Carnes and wife Patsy of Amarillo, his uncle Terry Carnes of Seattle, Washington, his aunt Betty Goodin and his uncle Johnny Brown, both of Claude, Texas.  Barry also has six nieces and two nephews.

Barry is preceded in death by his father, Jim Everett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Retirement Fund for Religious, National Religious Retirement Office, 3211 Fourth Street NE, Washington DC 20017-1194.
