Beatrice Carolyn Metz Adelman, 103, of Amarillo died, August 24, 2014.
Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Temple B’nai Israel with Student Rabbi Lor Levine officiating. Private inurnment will held at a future date in Chicago.
Beatrice Carolyn Metz Adelman was born June 30, 1911 in Chicago, IL to Sol and Anna (Liebschutz) Metz. She moved to Amarillo in August of 2005. She would not want us to view this as a tragedy; rather, she would want us to celebrate her long and mostly happy life. In 1933, she earned her Bachelor of Philosophy Degree in English from the University of Chicago. In June of 1939, she married Allan Hess Adelman in Libertyville, IL
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her daughter, Barbara Ann Bearak (Seymour), and her brother, Henry W. Metz of Miami, FL.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Stanley I. Adelman (Louise) of Amarillo; granddaughter, Cantor Susan R. A. Bortnick (David) of Takoma Park, MD; grandsons, Allan D. Adelman (Lori Schneider) of Austin, TX; Michael E. Bearak of Dudley, NC; and Mark A. Bearak (Michael Moore) of New York City; and her great granddaughters Mary Claire Bearak, Naomi Mae, Eliya Braeden, and Mikala Jasmine Bortnick, and Sarah Ruby Adelman.
