Benjamin “Benny" S. Campos age 83 of Amarillo died March 13, 2016.

A Rosary Service will be said at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel tuesday at 6 PM.
A funeral mass will be on Wednesday, March 16th at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Celebrant will be Rev. Jose Gomez.  Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.

Benny was born June 5, 1932 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Pedro and Trinidad Campos.   He attended Price College and Amarillo College.  He married Lucy Olivas on December 14, 1952 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Benny was a glazier and set the glass in many of Amarillo’s downtown buildings.  He continued to work until he was 80.  He worked and retired from PPG, Royal Glass and Safelite.  Even after retiring he worked as the custodian for Arden Road Elementary.  Benny was never afraid of hard work and took pride in all he did, setting examples for his children and grandchildren.

Aside from work, Benny filled his time as Boy Scout Leader, a basketball and a baseball coach.  He was athletic himself and enjoyed playing football in younger years and softball throughout his life; nothing made him happier then to watch the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.  He also loved travel virtually everywhere but especially to the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado.

His family was the center of his life.  Everything he did was to provide for them and instill the importance of family and relationships.  Lucy was the love of his life; he remained steadfast by her side, caring for her throughout life and her illness until her death on August 28, 1999.  His heart broke that day and it has been his desire of his to join Lucy within the gates of Heaven.

Benny was also preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Jose Ramos and a son-in-law, Bobby Cordova.

He is survived by his three daughters, Jo Anne Cordova of Big Spring, TX, Denise Mendoza and her husband Marcello and Geri Arriaga and husband Oscar all of Amarillo; his son Benny James Campos of Amarillo; his sister Rosa Barragan of Amarillo; his brother Pedro Campos of Aurora, CO; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
