Berta Lee Peace

December 2, 1919 — January 11, 2017

Berta Lee Peace went to her heavenly home on January 11, 2017.

Services will be 10:00 AM  Friday, January 13, 2017 at Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Berta was a long time resident of Amarillo and was born December 2, 1919 to Ollie and Dona Preston in Owen, Texas.

She was united in holy matrimony to Glen Peace on July 4, 1942 in Brownwood, Texas. This union was blessed with five children, four boys and a girl.

Berta was a hard worker. She worked for the AISD cafeteria for many years and the Donut Stop for many more before retiring. She was a very loving lady with a smile and a laugh that would light up the room. She enjoyed cooking and most of all spending time with her family. Some of her favorite past times were taking cruises with her sister and other family members, going fishing with her son and daughter in law, trips to Dublin to visit family, cooking for her family and having Christmas in her cozy home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen Peace; a daughter, Janis Blackwell; two sons, Glen Peace Jr. and Leon Peace; and a grandson, Troy Peace.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children; Ray Peace and wife Danna of Amarillo and Dale Peace of Amarillo; a sister, Earlene Sikes; eleven grandchildren and spouses; twenty-two great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews; a few cousins and many friends.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation be made to your favorite charity in her honor.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the funeral home.
