Betsy Butler-Thorne, 67, of Yantis, Texas passed away on January 17, 2020.

She will be laid to rest near her mother at Llano Cemetery. The graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Betsy was born October 23,1951 in Amarillo, Texas to Alice Bridges-Butler and Willard Butler. Betsy married the love of her life; John Paul Thorne and they have been married 34 years. They have one son John who was Betsy’s heart. Betsy achieved many professional accomplishments but being a champion of people who are blind and disabled impacted so many lives. She spoke on Capital Hill in Washington and worked with the State of Texas on behalf their rights. Betsy began her career in real estate and she continued over the years using real estate as her hobby. Betsy is known for her heart as big as the State of Texas sharing and mentoring all she met.

Betsy is survived by her husband, John Paul and son John. Brother Charles Brasfield, Nieces Laura Butler, Lyndi Redding, Lu Allen, Daughter Heather Huffman and Granddaughter Skylar Kayastha-Huffman. Betsy was also survived by many close friends as well as her wonderful dog Twizzler who brought her so much joy and love. She will be missed by so many.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to lung research centers of your choice.
