A visitation will be on Friday December 10, 2010 at Schooler Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 11, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Wallace officiating. Burial will be at Silverton Cemetery in Silverton, Texas at 4 p.m. on Saturday December 11, 2010.Betty was born to True and Iris Burson on November 13, 1929, in Amarillo. She grew up Farming and Ranching in Silverton, Texas. She was a graduate of Texas Tech University at the age of 19 with a double major in English and Math, Masters at West Texas University in Education. She married C.D Kirk in 1961 and taught mathematics in many different schools for 44 years and retired from Region 16 as an Assistant Curriculum coordinator. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, and playing cards, visiting the ranch, but her favorite was spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her husband C.D Kirk; daughter Karen Kirk Bixler; and a brother. She is survived by daughter Kelly Dunbar and husband Clipper Dunbar and children Ian, Haley, and Shelby of Lockney, Tx; granddaughter Iris Lynnette Maize and husband Jack of Kirksville, MO; great grandchildren Jacob and Shelby Lynne Maize and several nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to your favorite organization or charity.
