Betty Lou Propst

Betty Lou Propst, 84, of Amarillo passed away Friday, November 17, 2017.

A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorial Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 20, 2017 at Paramount Baptist Church with Blaine Bertrand and Lance Herrington as co-officiants. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Amarillo, Texas.

Betty married William Propst in Cresaptown, MD on November 14, 1951. They soon made their home in Texas where they raised their three sons, Billy, Brad and Bruce. For many years, Betty served the Texas Panhandle Heritage Foundation, producers of TEXAS Musical Drama, as Director of Development where she was known simply as “Mama Betty” to generations of TEXAS members.

Betty was a member of Paramount Baptist Church, the JOY Sunday School Class, Alpha Beta Sorority, Canyon Chamber of Commerce, Canyon Lions Club, a former Paul Harris member of Rotary, and of the HOST Program. She was awarded the Texas Panhandle Heritage Foundation Life Angel Membership, which is the highest honor bestowed by the foundation.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her beloved son, Billy; and her daughter-in-law, Diane Propst.

Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Barbara Propst, son Brad Propst, son Bruce and his wife Carla Propst; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
