Betty Ruth Tarter

Betty Ruth Tarter, 87, of Amarillo passed away February 11, 2019.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 15, 2019 at Grace Church, 4111 Plains Blvd. Burial will be private. Arrangements by Schooler Funeral Home.

Betty was born March 14, 1931 in Wynn, AR to L.E. and Francis Turner. She moved to Amarillo in 1942 and married Wayne Tarter in 1948. They met in study hall at the old Amarillo High School, she was 16 and he was 18. Together, they were married 70 years. She was a member of Grace Church almost from the beginning of the church.

Betty was a wonderful mother, wife and grandmother. Her great-grandchildren say she was the greatest ever. She never missed a game.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Shane Tarter; son in law, Jack Stanley; and sister, Ida Stephenson.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sonja Kaye Stanley; grandchildren, Jerry Stanley and wife Rachel, Tim Stanley, Jeremy Fangio and wife Angela, and T.J. Fangio and wife Amanda; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Jaycee, Anthony, Tyler, Kaylin, Kendra, Presley and Cash; daughter in law, Karin Tarter; sister, Birdie Palmer and husband Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.
