Bettye Joyce Thompson, 77, of Amarillo, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo.
Joyce was born on December 31, 1938 in Amarillo, five minutes after her twin sister Troyce, to Shirley and Dub Trotter. She graduated from Palo Duro High School. Joyce was married to Phillip Thompson. She was president of several organizations including the Women’s Federation, a sorority, and Arts Unlimited. Joyce was an avid bridge player and a talented artist in oil painting and stained glass. She loved animals, especially dachshunds, and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Phillip Thompson; and a brother, Larry Trotter.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Sherae Bene and husband, Alan of Allen; son, Troy Thompson and wife Linda of Amarillo; her twin sister, Troyce Mulherin of Amarillo; her sister, Kay West and husband Jerry of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
