Beverly Joan Duraso, 85, of Amarillo died August 28, 2020.

Private burial will be held in Coats, KS. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Beverly was born September 17, 1934 in Pratt, KS to Fred and Mattie Buck. She grew up on a farm near Coats Kansas helping her Grandparents with farm chores and caring for the farm hands. After leaving the farm, she became an Army Wife to Sgt. Frank Wayne Sims, Sr. and traveled throughout the United States.

After getting a divorce, she moved to Canadian, TX and remarried Jack Duraso. Beverly spent her time raising her two sons until they graduated high school.

She began working as a restaurant employee and worked her way up to management. She also worked as a communications operator for various oilfield companies .Beverly owned a laundromat and sports memorabilia business in Canadian. When Beverly retired, she enjoyed spending more time with her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She instilled 5 important qualities into her two sons- Faith in God - Loyalty- Courage- Strength- and Honor.

Some of her favorite hobbies were leather work, making jewelry, and raising and racing horses. Beverly also loved her cats!!!

She is preceded in death by her mother, Cleo Maxine Burghard; adoptive mother, Mattie May Buck; father, Ershel Elmer Walters; adoptive father, Fred L. Buck; first husband, Frank Wayne Sims, Sr.; second husband, Jack W. Duraso; and granddaughter, Stacy Dawn Sims Scott.

Beverly is survived by sons, Frank W. Sims, Jr. and wife, Wanda of Bryan, TX and Billy Sims of Amarillo, TX; twin sister, Martha Wolf of Great Bend, KS; sister, Paula Fuhr (Burghard) of Coulterville, CA; grandchildren, William Patterson of Houston, TX, Frank Sims, III and wife, Kimberli Jo of Conifer, CO, Benjamin Sims of College Station, TX, Jacky Scott and wife, Kayla of Amarillo, Tiffany Sims Schoen of Amarillo, TX and Jason Schoen of Amarillo, TX; great-grandchildren, Jessica Fitzgerald, Samantha Patterson, Peyton Patterson, Shannon Sims, Freya Sims, Cody Scott, Jesse Ashcraft and Aveena Schoen; great great-grandchildren, Veah Fitzgerald and Cheyanne Fitzgerald; niece, Yvonne Watkins of Great Bend, KS; son-in-law, Kenneth Stegemiller of Albuquerque, NM and ex daughter-in-law, Stella Sims.
