Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Kingswood United Methodist Church, 4801 S. Austin, with C.W. Parker officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Bill was born on September 16, 1938 in Corsicana to the late Billy P. and Blanche Canady. He was raised and loved by his father and step-mother, Betty Canady. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1956 and began his broadcasting career while serving in the Air Force reserves. He married Barbara Burke in Amarillo on March 14, 1959. He went to work at KVII in 1968 and retired as their Chief Engineer in 2012. Because of his passion for broadcasting and the contributions he made to KVII, the building was officially renamed to the Canady Broadcast Center at this retirement. Among his lists of accomplishments, Bill was one of the first people inducted into the Texas Panhandle Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
Over the course of his life, Bill’s interests included everything from motorcycles to astronomy, a deep love of music and even a few years of putting practice. Whatever he was involved in, he poured his heart and soul in to it.
