Jeannie was born in Vernon, Texas January 28, 1941 to William Isaac Duncan and Margaret Whatley Duncan. She graduated from Oklaunion High School in 1959. She married Ted Maynard Shumate on March 8, 1960 in Elliott, Texas. She worked for River Road Independent School District and retired in 1983. She also was a co owner of Montage Salon with the late Ray Strickland. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was currently the “Queen Mum” and Vice president of the Caprock Cruisers. She was a member of South Georgia Baptist Church. She loved her family, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.Preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Derrick Bill Shumate, father in-law, Iva Shumate, mother in-law, Ella Shumate.Survived by her husband, Ted Maynard Shumate, two daughters, Donna Kay Shumate, Deana Marie Riley and husband, Scott Allen Riley; one son, William Ted Shumate all of Amarillo; two brothers, Rannie Duncan of Plano, Texas, and Bobby Duncan Arlington, Texas; one sister, Ada Lee Cook, of Vernon, Texas; five grandchildren, Brandon Ted Riley and wife Danielle Riley, Ashley Lorene Riley, Amanda Marjean Shumate, Devvin Bill Shumate and Bo Garrett Shumate, four great grandchildren, Jaden McKenzie Navarette, Brayden Scott Stovall, Blake Shawn Stovall, and Braelynn Jean Riley.Family suggests memorials be made to, Odyssey Hospice 6900 I-40 West, Ste. 150, Amarillo, TX 7916
