Billy “Bill” Ralph Ammons, age 68 of Amarillo died February 2, 2016.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, Feb. 5th at The Church of Christ at the Colonies. Mr. Dick Marcear will officiate. A private interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Bill was born December 21, 1947 in Haskell, Texas to Ralph and Billie Ammons. He graduated from Caprock HS in 1967 before joining the Army and served two tours in Vietnam. He married Suzanne Morrison on October 4, 1975 in Amarillo and they were charter members of The Church of Christ at the Colonies.
In 2008 Bill retired from Yellow Transportation after forty years of employment. In his spare time Bill loved working on cars and could repair virtually anything. He fulfilled a long time dream when he completed the build of a 1931 Ford Coupe. Upon its completion, he and Suzanne traveled coast to coast in it.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6PM until 7PM.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Suzanne; his two sons, Cody and Jeffrey Ammons both of Amarillo; his sister, Elaine McLauchlin and her husband Ronnie of Tiki Island; his brother Curtis Ammons and his wife Kathy of Katy; two grandchildren, Kayla and Brayden.
The family suggests the memorials be made to The Church of Christ at the Colonies, 4500 Wesley Road, Amarillo, TX 79119.
