BILL A. DODGIN, age 82 of Amarillo, died July 13, 2012 in Amarillo.
FUNERAL Services will be at The Church of Christ at the Colonies on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Mr. Dick Marcear and Mr. Lynn Camp will officiate. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Bill was born in Nacona, Texas on April 3, 1930 to Elmer and Vera Dodgin. He graduated from Vega High School and attended West Texas State University. He married the love of his life, Sue Foster on October 22, 1949. They have celebrated over 62 and a half years of marriage together.
Bill was mission minded and served his God. He organized and participated in campaigns in Brisbane, Australia, Halifax, Canada and Amarillo to teach about Jesus our Savior. He also traveled to Naha, Okinawa in 1978 and again in1987 to teach people about Jesus and strengthen the leadership of their church. Bill also was very active in his home bible study groups and worked on an extensive study of the Mystery of God and fulfilled prophecies of the bible. Bill was devoted to his Savior and read his bible daily. This was his passion, a scheduled quiet time, with his Lord. Bill served as an elder for over twenty five years at the following churches, Southwest Church of Christ, Lawndale Church of Christ and Amarillo South.
Many who knew Bill came to know Jesus and Bill became an important person in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Vera.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Sue; daughter Becky Price and her husband Doyle of Amarillo; son Bill C. Dodgin and his wife Joni of Amarillo; Brother Jim Dodgin of Grapevine, TX; Sister –in-law Doy and her husband Bill of Dallas; his grandchildren Scott and Stacy Price; Roxi McLeod and her husband Jason of Teri Haunte, Indiana, and Dustin Dodgin and his wife Kyla of Amarillo; his great grandchildren, Justin and Amber Greer, Nelli Jo McLeod, and Anna and Liam Dodgin and many other loving family members and friends.
