Billy Douglass, 87, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 24, 2016.

Billy was born June 1, 1929 in Custer County, OK to Henry H. and Florence Douglass. He married Betty Carpenter on July 14, 1958 in Plainview and they recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. He proudly served in the U. S. Army during WWII, stationed in Guam.
Billy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed dearly. He was a truck driver for many years. When he retired he enjoyed fishing and gardening. People would often stop to compliment him on his landscaping.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Deborah Hays; and several brothers and sisters.
Billy is survived by his wife; his daughter, Michele Horn and husband, Juergen of The Colony; his son, Earnest “Doug” Douglass and wife, Kim of Amarillo; his son-in-law Robbie Hays of Amarillo; his sister, Mary Franklin of Waynesville, NC; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
