Bill R. McMorries, 88, of Amarillo, died Saturday, August 1, 2015.
A Memorial Service will be held today at 11:00 AM at Southwest Church of Christ with Mr. Glen Walton and Mr. Dean Whaley officiating. A private graveside was held at Llano Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Mr. McMorries was born to James and Nellie McMorries on January 9, 1927 in Anson, Texas.
He served in the United States Army during WWII.
He was a consulting civil engineer for municipalities and a lifetime member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Texas Society of Professional Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was also a lifetime member of Mensa (98%) and Intertel (99%). He served over 50 years as a trust manager on the board of Church Loans and Investments Trust and served as its Chairman for many of those years.
He married Billie Jean Blanton on August 28, 1949 who died in June 2000. He later married Otha Mae Weatherford on September 18, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Melton McMorries of Tarzan, Texas and Wilburn McMorries of Carson, California.
He is survived by his wife, Otha Mae of Amarillo; a son, Kim McMorries and his wife, Debbie of Nacogdoches; two daughters, Stephanie Brennen and her husband Kevin of Amarillo and Marcia Weaver and her husband Bill of Plano; one brother, James W. McMorries and his wife Linda of Seymour, Texas; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
