Billy "B.J." Jay McKnight

Billy Jay “B.J.” McKnight, 54, of Amarillo “took his foot off the gas” Monday, January 14, 2019, after a long battle with heart disease.

Viewing will be held from 6-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the funeral home with Billy Rammage, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

BJ was born January 30, 1964 in Clayton, New Mexico. He grew up in and around Amarillo, and graduated high school in Groom, Texas.

BJ was athletic in school playing football, basketball, track, baseball, and riding bulls. He enjoyed driving trucks, cowboying, farming, fishing, hunting, and dancing.

BJ is preceded in death by his step- fathers, Gary Gatlin and Bill Kiser.

Survivors include his mother, Marilyn Kiser; father Harvey McKnight; brothers, Ronald Gatlin of Amarillo and Michael (Linda) Gatlin of Walters, Oklahoma; sister Peggy (Dewayne) Gentzel of Texas; numerous nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
