Blake Edward Loria, 19, of Canyon unexpectedly left this world on August 13, 2022.

Blake and his twin sister Nicole made a dramatic entrance into the world on March 6, 2003 in Galveston, Texas.

Blake is a 2021 Canyon High School graduate. It was in high school where Blake discovered his passion for writing as a student journalist working on The Eagle’s Tale news site as a staff reporter, associate editor and ultimately Editor-in-Chief. His honors in journalism include being named All-State Journalist his junior and senior years, placing at UIL State in News and Editorial writing, writing multiple articles that were recognized on a state and national level and leading the news site to be nationally recognized in 2021. Outside of journalism, he served as Spanish Club President, Robotics Club Vice President, National Hispanic Honor Society Treasurer, Leo Club, LEAD Council, National Honor Society, Quill and Scroll Honor Society and worked with iConnect for three years.

Blake was attending West Texas A&M pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree while working on campus for the Division of IT. In the Fall, he was awarded a scholarship to WTAMU in journalism for his essay, “Dear Future Me.”

Blake enjoyed photography, creating art, hanging out with friends, hiking, going to the gym and cooking as some of his hobbies.

He is survived by his mother Devra Ann Weisbart of Amarillo; his father Glenn Edward Loria of Pearland; his twin sister Nicole Ann Loria also of Pearland; his brothers, Bradley James Loria of Amarillo, Brandon Wayne Austin and his wife Tiffany of Colorado Springs, Jacob Dale Austin also of Colorado Springs and Cameron Blaine Vigil of Round Rock; his grandparents, Robert and Jo Ann Holt of Amarillo, Katheryn Loria of Pearland and Frank Loria of Houston; and many other loving family members and friends.

A graveside service will take place on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Llano Cemetery. Gabbi Chp. Larry Dov’ Batchlear will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
