Blanche Eileen Muir, 81, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010, after a short battle with cancer.Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 14 at Washington Avenue Christian Church with Rev. Jim Shelburne and Terry Griffith officiating.Blanche was born October 31, 1928 in Filer, Idaho to Abe and Irva Slatter. She married Robert (Bob) Muir on February 17, 1948 in Weiser, Idaho. They moved to Amarillo from Baker, OR in 1959 when her husband was transferred while working for the Fuller Brush Company. She was an accomplished bookkeeper before she became a housewife and mother to her four children, as well as a house remodeler for their rental property. She worked tirelessly and gratefully in many churches throughout her lifetime teaching children’s classes and playing the piano for church services and programs. She was also a gifted seamstress who many people took their garments to for mending and adjustment.Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, three sisters and two brothers.Survivors include her children: two daughters, Ronda of Greenwich, CT and Roma of Amarillo; two sons, Robert and wife Annette of Texarkana and Robin and wife Dawna of Amarillo; a sister, Fern Smith and husband Jim of Lewiston, Idaho; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and her sweetheart, Lonnie Davis of Amarillo.
