Bobby Dick Lemons

Bobby D. Lemons, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, died Thursday, December 13, 2012, in Amarillo.  Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 17, 2012 at Trinity Fellowship, West Sanctuary with Pastor John Love and Howard (Red) L. Weatherly officiating.  The family will receive guests Sunday evening, December 16, 2012, 6-7pm, at Schooler Funeral Home.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Lemons was born December 30, 1934 in Happy, TX to Frank and Lois Lemons and moved to Amarillo from Panhandle in 1940.  He was a 1953 graduate of Amarillo High School and served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1958 as a Naval Aviator.  He also served 31 years in the Navy Reserves as a Cryptologic Technician Collection, retiring at the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1989.
Mr. Lemons graduated from West TX State University in 1971 with a B.S. in Mathematics and worked at Pantex Plant in a multitude of capacities, beginning in 1959 and retiring in 1997 as a Nuclear Explosive Safety Officer, known by some as “Fireball Bob”, more for his distribution of “Fireball” candies rather than his speed.  He had served as a substitute teacher with the Amarillo Independent School District for the past several years prior to his death and was known for his kindness and warm demeanor towards all he came in contact with.
Mr. Lemons was a member of Trinity Fellowship for 32 years.
Mr. Lemons is survived by his wife, P. J. Lemons, a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Thelma Lemons of Meridian, TX; two daughters, Dawn Renee’ Lemons Freeman of Glenn Heights, TX and Stacey Rachelle Lemons Conlogue of Watford City, ND; two sons, Michael Craig Lemons of Montgomery, TX and Christopher Todd Lemons of Arlington, TX; two step-daughters, Stacy Lewis of San Antonio, TX and Christy Moore of Montgomery, TX, and a step-son, Jeff Green of Canadian, TX.  He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Forrester Lemons (1980), sister Helen White, brother Jerry Lemons, and a son Clinton Lemons.
