Bobby Glenn Dawkins, affectionately known as “Papa”, went to Heaven on May 21, 2021 at the age of 81, in Amarillo, TX. Bob was born in Abilene, TX on December 24, 1939.
“Papa” loved his family more than life itself. He is remembered by his son, Tony Dawkins and wife Coleta; his daughter Julie Fields and husband Tom; and his sister Betty Sharp - all of Amarillo. In addition, he is also remembered by his 5 grandchildren Nicole, Dominic, Derek, Samantha and Dylan; his 8 great grandchildren, Devon, Darren, Anzlie, Eli, Jaxson, Emma, Abigail, and Bryce; 1 great-great granddaughter, Ellie; and loving friends Sandra Snelson and Shirley Janzen. He is predeceased by his wife of many years and lifelong friend Joan Ward; his daughter Cathy Lucero; his son-in-law, Alan “Bubba” McLaughlin; his mother Mary Pearl Harber; father figure and brother-in-law, Melvin “Good Unc” Vick; his sisters Jean Vick and Coleen Rusco; and his great grandson Brady.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, caring for his dog Sandy, going to the mountains, barbecuing, camping and fishing at Lake Texhoma, cheering for the Cowboys, going to the casino, and a few shots of whiskey or a Coors Light with a competitive game of pool. He will be cherished and missed by all those who eagerly wait to see him again.
The family would like to thank Kindred Home Health and Hospice, as well as Tonya Fields, for all of their loving care during his transition into eternity. Bob’s life will be celebrated at Schooler Funeral Home on May 25, 2021 at 11am.
