Bonnie Lee (Parra) Brown

February 16, 1933 — January 2, 2023

Amarillo

On January 2 nd , 2023, Bonnie Lee Parra Brown, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of eighty-nine surrounded by her family.  She was born on February 16, 1933, to Bonny and Crystal Parra in Massillon, Ohio.  She was the youngest of three children.  She lived in Ohio until after her graduation and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada with her parents in July of 1953.

In Las Vegas, she met Elmer Anderson Brown at a used car lot one evening, and they married on December 18, 1954.  Elmer and Bonnie moved to Amarillo, Texas in the spring of 1956 along with Bonnie’s parents.  Bonnie and Elmer had three sons, Brian Lee Brown, Randy Douglas Brown, and Kent Keven Brown.

Bonnie was an active member of the Arts and Symphony in Amarillo.  After her divorce from Elmer, she got her real estate license and began what became a long and successful career as a realtor.  She made many life-long friends and was a member of the million-dollar club from 1983-1987.

Bonnie was raised in church and her faith was an important part of her life.  She raised her sons in church and one of her favorite things was going to church with the whole family, something her grandkids remember fondly about her.  Bonnie loved having her family around, whether that was for Sunday dinners, vacations, or challenging her grandkids to a round of Rummikub.  She also loved playing bridge with friends.

Second only to the love of her family, was Bonnie’s love of the Dallas Cowboys.  Her family always teased her that she bled blue.  If the Cowboys were losing, she would blame the referees.  The Cowboys could do no wrong in her eyes.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Bonny and Crystal Parra, her brother, Frank Parra, her sister, Gloria Scharver, and sister-in-law, Jackie Parra.

Bonnie is lovingly remembered and survived by Brian & Kathy Brown, their children Ronna and husband, Kyle McAdams, Lauren and husband, Wesley Dyess, and Landon Brown.  Randy and Linda Brown, and their son, Eric Brown.  Kent and Benita Brown, their children Shelby and husband, Jake Kantor, and Neely Brown. Great grandchildren Hallie and husband, Jonathan Baker, Hayden McAdams, Marlee Brooks, Ellie Brooks, and Kyer King.  Her great, great granddaughter, and namesake, that she was most proud of, Bonnie Baker.
