Boyd Derryberry

Boyd Derryberry, 97, of Amarillo died January 17, 2019.

Visitation will be held today from 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the funeral home. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m., in Wellington Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Boyd was born May 4, 1921 in Dexter, TX to Alvis and Nettie Lee Derryberry. He moved to Wellington, TX at 6 years old and graduated from Wellington High School. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp in Japan during WWII. After he was discharged from the Army Air Corps, he made Wellington his home.

Boyd married Ruth Jackson on January 16, 1943 in Spokane, WA. He loved his family and grandchildren. Boyd was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding and taking trips with friends. Boyd was a hard worker and would do anything for anyone.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Derryberry; and son, Keith Derryberry.

Boyd is survived by son, Lynn Derryberry of Canyon; brother, Fane Derryberry of Beaumont; and 2 grandchildren, Justis Derryberry and Janae Brown, both of Amarillo.
