Brenda Lynne Box-Bristol

Brenda Lynne Box-Bristol, 70, of Dallas,TX, passed on April 7, 2022, at home after a lengthy illness. She was the eldest daughter of five children of L. Louise Box and the late Boyce Box of Amarillo, TX. She is survived by spouse Mike Bristol, daughter Blayne and spouse Jim Noblin of Dallas, her Mother, sister Lynette Herring of Waco, Blake Box of Dallas, Rhonda Fowles and spouse, Jay, of Houston and Bernay Box and spouse, Robin, of Dallas and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia Street in Amarillo on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral services will take place at First Baptist Church, 1208 S. Tyler at 1:30pm on Thursday, April 14, 2022 in Amarillo with Dr. Howard K. Batson presiding. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Brenda Lynne Box was born in San Antonio, TX, on December 22, 1951, and born again through baptism at First Baptist Church – Amarillo, on April 24, 1960. She devoted her early years to her faith, exemplified perhaps best by achieving the distinction of Queen Regent in Service in the Church’s Women’s Missionary Union GA program. She strove to live a Christ-like life, adhering to scripture such as, “Arise, shine for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is upon you.” (Isaiah 60:1).

Brenda’s earliest love was music and she spent long hours at her piano, perfecting her playing and vocal skills. She used her God-given talents at church and as an accomplished performer at Tascosa High School and in hometown musical theater productions. She went on to perform during her college years in Austin and later moved to Nashville, TN, to pursue her dreams, working with legends Linda Ronstadt and Johnny Mathis.

Though she never saw herself as a beauty, the rest of America did - as evidenced by Brenda being asked to represent her hometown in the Miss Texas pageant, which she was proud to do, where she was crowned Miss Texas and then, first runner-up to Miss USA in Miami Beach in 1971. Her acclaim as a beauty presented Brenda with opportunities in the entertainment industry for the following years and this experience provided the foundation for her successful commercial real estate career thereafter,  becoming one of Dallas’ leading ladies in an industry that had long been the exclusive domain of her male counterparts. Her humor, charm and dedication to her craft would frequently result in her obtaining the listings of coveted clients too numerous to name. She was a founding member of Dallas’ chapter of CREW - Commercial Real Estate Women - an organization which continues to open doors for women wishing to pursue a career in the industry. Brenda was recognized for her outstanding vocal talent on the stage, winning the Mary Jacobs Smith: Singer of the Year Competition and placing top 3 in the New York Metropolitan Opera competition. She spent several months training and singing in New York, but ultimately decided she wanted to come home to her family, where she spent over 10 years singing with The Dallas Opera.

Brenda’s years in real estate also led to an introduction to her soon-to-be husband, Mike, and they were married December 27, 1986, at First Baptist - Amarillo. Their marriage produced daughter Blayne, who is now pursuing a singing career, which brought happiness and contentment to Brenda. Brenda was also an animal rights advocate especially fond of dogs and she was a devoted Texas Longhorns fan.
