Bruce Lee Boland, 70, of Amarillo passed away April 27, 2021.

Visitation will be from 6-7:00 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021 at St. Stephen UMC, 4600 S. Western St. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Bruce was born April 23, 1951 in Rotan, TX to Ben and Lillian Boland. Bruce attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock before transferring to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Medical Technology. He began his career at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Amarillo where he worked for more than 40 years. Bruce started out as a medical technologist then a lab supervisor and finished his career as a program specialist in the IT department.

Bruce married his wife Sharon Ewing Boland in 1972 in Jayton, TX. Bruce loved watching Red Raider football and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. His greatest enjoyment was being a Papa and watching his grandkids participate in sports, band, theatre or other activities. He was the camera man of the family and loved spending time working on computers. Bruce was a great handyman and would fix anything for anyone who called him.

He is preceded in death by father, Ben Neil Boland; mother, Lillian Arlene Watson Boland; brother, Gerald Jay Boland; brother in laws, Rusty Welch and Ron Kaiser; and father in law, Tommy Ewing.

Bruce is survived by wife, Sharon Boland; daughters, Belinda Fuller and husband, Doyle and Emily Choate and husband Brandon; grandchildren, Nathan Tyler, Kinsley Choate, Michaley Fuller, Lainey Choate, Nicholas Fuller, Brayson Choate and Michael Fuller; brother, Don Boland and wife, Shirley; sister, Lavina Welch; mother in law, JoAnn Ewing; sister in laws, Karen Kaiser and Patti Cunningham and husband, Bruce; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Stephen UMC, 4600 S. Western St., Amarillo, Texas 79109 or BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 5211 SW 9th Ave, Amarillo, Texas 79106.
