Buford was born July 23, 1934 in Lubbock, TX to James Robertus and Lottie Lucille (Jones) Clemmer. After attending college at West Texas University, he moved to California and got an entry-level job at Bank of America staying with them until he retired. He was a teller, inspector, manager, district manager, and vice president. Trying to put a polish on him, Bank of America sent him to what he referred as “Cooth School.” He loved his job and his customers, they became friends for life. Years later he completed his studies at Stanford University.
He met his first wife, Lucy Bonell (McDonald) in California. They had 2 children together, Charles Wayne and Jane Frances. Lucy passed away unexpectedly in 1968. Buford was a dedicated family man and friend to many. He was loyal, caring, and honest to a fault. He will be sorely missed but will be forever in our hearts and memories.
