Callie Allen Branner, 96, of Amarillo died, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in Amarillo.
Gravside service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, March 12, 2012 in Llano Cemetery with Sherman Eastland, Chaplain of Odyssey Hospice, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home 4100 South Georgia.
Ms. Branner was born in Happy, Texas in October 1915, she was 96 years old.
She was preceded in death in 2005 by her husband of 49 years Mr. John C.
Branner. Callie graduated from Happy High School in 1933. The family later
moved to Amarillo where Callie became a sales clerk at Levine's Department
Store. During that time, she applied and was hired in 1941 to be a telephone
operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone where she continued in various
capacities until retiring from AT&T after 36 years of service. Ms. Branner was
active in the AT&T Pioneer organization until a few years ago.
She is survived by her nearest relative, nephew Kirby Allen of San Antonio and several grand nieces and nephews residing in Kansas and Missouri.
Family will receive friends Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 7:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
