Carl Douglas “Doug” Burrows age 63 of Amarillo passed from this life on January 3, 2023 in Amarillo.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, January 8, 2023 afternoon from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Chapel with Rev. Corky Holland will officiate.
Doug was born on April 18, 1959 in Sayre, Oklahoma to his parents Forrest Joe and Elgevia Mae Burrows. He graduated Caprock High School and went on to attend Amarillo College. He married Emily McKenzie in Amarillo at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on February 7, 1981. The couple expanded the family with the addition of their two children, Cassie and Timothy.
Doug worked at Pantex for a time and was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching the western movies with Cassie and he was a faithful Boy Scout Leader when Timothy was a Boy Scout. Doug could be a challenge; however he was a good man that loved to the best of his abilities and he cared deeply for his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother and by his brother Kerry Joe Burrows.
Doug is survived by his faithful and devoted wife, Emily, and children, Cassie Hill and her husband Trey and Timothy Burrows all of Amarillo; his father Forrest Joe Burrows and his wife Willie; his brother Rodney Dale Burrows and his wife Nancy of Colorado; his sister-in-law Brenda Burrows; and his grandchildren, Alexander Hill and Riley Hill.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the National Alliance of Mental Illness Panhandle Chapter (NAMI), 1401 Polk Street, Amarillo, Texas 79101.
