Carol June Cates, 81, of Amarillo, died October 26, 2014.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in Evangelical Fellowship Church with Pastor Bobby File officiating. Graveside service will be 3:00 PM, also on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Mountain View Cemetery in Elmwood, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Carol was born on June 24, 1933 in Sterling, Kansas to Lester and Dymple Reece. She was raised in Beaver, OK. She married James Fredrick Cates in Liberal, Kansas on May 10, 1952. The family lived in Liberal for 40 years before moving to Amarillo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James in 2007.
Carol is survived by sons, Dennis Cates and wife, Roxanne of Amarillo; James D. Cates and wife, Margie of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Johna Mathias of Centennial, CO; a brother, Charles Reece of Chicago, IL; a cousin, Rose Marie Berry of Laverne, OK; and four grandchildren, Sarah, Cameron, Carlie and Bethany.
The family has requested memorials be sent in Carol’s name to Missionary Fund C/O Evangelical Fellowship at 5000 W. 49th Avenue – Amarillo, Texas 79109.
