Carroll Milton Hardesty

June 6, 1933 — July 22, 2012

Carrol M. Hardesty age 79 of Amarillo passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 in Amarillo.
A prayer service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel.  A memorial mass will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Msgr. Harold Waldow as celebrant.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia

Carrol was born June 6, 1933 in San Jon, New Mexico to Lon and Ethel Hardesty.   He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.   He was a longtime resident of Tucumcari.  He married Rita Backlund on June 1, 1991 in Escondido, CA.

Carrol was a huge fan of NASCAR.  He enjoyed the thrill of off road racing and had raced in Baja.  He also enjoyed being outdoors and riding in dune buggies.  He loved his family tremendously.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Brenda Kay Hardesty; a son, Lannie Dale Hardesty; and a brother, Billy Don Hardesty.

He is survived by his wife;  six daughters, Debbie Miller of Chandler, TX, Vicki Byrum of Amarillo, TX, Debbie Hardesty of Durango, CO, Roxana Miller of Marietta, GA, Cheryl Thompson of Paso Robles, CA and Bonnie Cali of Briones, CA; two sons, Randal Brown of Sol Donta, Alaska and Ronald Brown of Lake Stevens, Washington; two sisters, Jacquelyn Bell of Azle, TX and Suzi Richardson of Azle, TX; two brothers, Dale Hardesty and Earl Hardesty both of Ramona, CA ; and sixteen grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to BSA Hospice, c/o “Olivia’s Angels” P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX
