Charlene Hulsey, 81, of Washburn, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Lake Tanglewood Community Church with Dr. Roger Hubbard officiating. Private burial will be in Washburn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home 4100 S. Georgia St.
Charlene was born in Vinson, Oklahoma on March 26, 1934 to Charles and Bula Smith. She married Jack Hulsey; they were happily married for over 50 years. Charlene enjoyed family gatherings, reading, quilting and watching baseball. She was a fabulous cook and the epitome of a homemaker. She devoted her life to serving and caring for those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jack Hulsey in 2012; a brother J.D. “Jim” Smith, a sister, Norma Blair and two great grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Pam Brown and husband Bill of Howardwick, and Barbara Jo Johnson and husband Bobby of Dalhart; two sons Robert Hulsey and wife Julie of Lake Tanglewood, and Ron Hulsey and wife Sharrise of Amarillo; two sisters Ann Butler of Washburn, and Jane Duncan of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be made to Washburn Community Center. They also wish to say a special thank you to the staff at Amarillo Center for Skilled Care for the great care they provided to "Mom."
