Charles “Charlie” Ray Kelso, 91, passed away January 4, 2019.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at First Baptist Church Chapel, 1208 S. Tyler St. A private burial will take place prior. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Charlie was born November 18, 1927 in Tulia, TX to Hugh Kelso and Eva Gardner Kelso. He graduated from West Texas State with a BBA. He was a Senior Accountant with Southwestern Public Service where he retired after 44 years of service and was a member of the San Jacinto Masonic Lodge 1330.
Charlie was an avid reader especially reading Western Novels. After retirement, he enjoyed his time walking his dogs in the park and loved spending time in his shop doing all kinds of woodwork and carvings.
He married Mary Louise Martin on April 22, 1951. They had a son David Kelso. He married his second wife, Eileen Greenslade Whigham on June 20, 1998.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Eva Kelso; wife, Mary Kelso; son, David Kelso; wife, Eileen Kelso; and brother, Wayne Kelso.
Charlie is survived by his sister, Gwendolyn Rennels and husband Earnest; grandchildren, Bradley Kelso and wife, Joyce and Shaun Kelso and wife, Moriah; great-grandson, Kolter Kelso; stepsons, Ken Adlong, Bruce Adlong and wife, Susan, Floyd Adlong and wife, Lisa; 8 step grandchildren; and 17 step great-grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be made to American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer’s Foundation.
