Charles Quincy Vaughn, 85, of Amarillo, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 in Amarillo, Texas.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, at Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Sherman Eastland, Chaplain of Odyssey Hospice officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.
Charles Vaughn was born September 8, 1928 in Swisher County to George and Agnes Gunkey Vaughn. On August 23, 1952, he married the love of his life, Marie Webb, in Clovis, NM. They celebrated 61 years of marriage. He served in the National Guard of Texas and achieved the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves. For some time, he was also a member of the Amarillo Fire Dept. and served as an active reserve officer with the Potter County Sheriff’s Dept. He also was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. In 1990, he retired from Pantex.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his son and daughter in law, Quincy Alan and Pat Vaughn; two sisters, Mary L. Hill and Betty Gilespie; and two brothers, Eldon and Albert Vaughn.
Survivors include his wife and his daughter, Tammy Keaton, both of Amarillo; his grandchildren, Braden Keaton, Blair Keaton, Stacy Ellis, Brandy Vaughn and Cheston Vaughn; his great granddaughters, Sophie and Macie Ellis; and two great-grandchildren on the way.
The family suggests memorials be to the Leukemia Society, 500 N. Broadway Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73102.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 6 at the funeral home.
