Charlotte "Susan" Maddox went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 13, 2023, at the age of 78.
Susan will be available for visitation on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church Chapel, 1208 S. Tyler St, with Pastor Corky Holland presiding. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery.
Susan was born in Pampa, Texas, to Bruce and Frances Deen Maddox. She lived in Miami, Texas, and after graduating from Miami High School, she attended Wayland Baptist College, where she received her bachelor’s degree, and she later received her Master of Education Degree from West Texas State University. She taught for over 40 years in public schools in Pampa, Palestine, and Amarillo.
Susan enjoyed reading, particularly old mystery novels and old classics. She enjoyed gardening and was a Master Gardener. In the summer mornings, she enjoyed planting, arranging, and rearranging flowers, plants, and rose bushes. In the winter months, she enjoyed planning and looked forward to the coming summer. Her yard was always a work in progress. She would diagram and design on paper the layout of her vision for her yard.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo and a member of Dottie’s Girls Sunday School Class.
Susan is survived by her son, Mark Nuss; her brother, Bob Maddox; and her sister, Liz Maddox.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, please donate to First Baptist Church of Amarillo.
